Tantalizing Thai at Eastin Hotel Penang

In conjunction with the April Thailand water festival (Songkra) Eastin Hotel is please to introduce the delicious authentic Thai cuisine for their April theme.

Among the mouth watering dishes to look for are Yam Talay (Spicy Seafood Salad), Geang Phed Ped Yang (BBQ roasted duck in red curry), Tom Yam Goong (Spicy prawn soup with lemongrass and lime juice), Phad Thai Goong (Thai style fried noodles with prawn), Phra Neang Ma Nao (Steamed seabass with spicy garlic and lemon sauce) and The tempting desserts of Kao Neaw Mamuang (Mango sticky rice).

Chef Daniel and assistant prepared all these yummylicious dishes.

Yam Talay (Spicy Seafood Salad). The best dish among all cause i love the tenderness and juiciness of the well cook prawn, mussel and squirt. Tossed in sour & spicy lime sauce with raw yellow onion, spring onion and local coriander.

Tom Yam Goong (Spicy prawn soup with lemongrass and lime juice). Really yam kong when had this dish cause i am not really a spicy eater. Thick santan, spicy soup, fresh tender prawn serve with fresh coriander and Kaffir Lime Leaves.

Geang Phed Ped Yang (BBQ roasted duck in red curry). Chef Daniel used the traditional way to cook this. He used double coconut milk (Double coconut milk is top floating foam / layer of the fresh coconut reduction. It is much more thicker, lighter and flavorful), fresh peel graph for some sweetness, thai mini eggplant, roasted duck and herb. It was a great sweet dish but I prefer to have more herb to balance off the sweet and creaminess.

Phra Neang Ma Nao (Steamed seabass with spicy garlic and lemon sauce). Eat while it is piping HOT.

A traditional savory dish which are commonly called as Thai fried koey teow. It is actually called Phad Thai Goong (Thai style fried noodles with prawn).

Kao Neaw Mamuang (Mango sticky rice). I love the sweet & sour thai mango topped with coconut cream & some sweet aroma caramelize sticky rice. The saltiness of the coconut cream kind of complement the sweet & sour from the mango. It was a GREAT sweet ending.

You can have as many as you want at the buffet.
These are some of the dishes serve in the buffet. During buffet you get a wide range of Thai choices to choose from as well. The buffet will start from 1st ~ 30th April 2012.

Valentine at Haagen-Dazs's with valentine suck fondue ever

I know this post is way over due but just want to write this up to show you guys not to try their Valentine suck fondue. We had an early valentine celebration at Haagen-Dazs for some sweet dessert celebration. It end up suck! I don't know why their valentine fondue so bad. I used to had their Fondue without regrading.

We celebrated at Queensbay Haagen-Dazs.

Though this special valentine's Day Menu will be a hot topic in our blog.

We ordered the couple's Fondue, RM68.00. It said it will be a romantic fondue for two with heart-shaped scoops of Belgian chocolate, strawberry, caramel biscuit & cream and vanilla ice cream served with chocolate dipped strawberry, apple slices, cookies, brownie and marshmallows. Look good right? It end up with disappointment.

Here you go, our couples's Fondue.

All the ice cream in heart-shaped as mention in the menu.

Lousy dried brownies.

Chocolate dipped strawberry, apple slices and cookies but marshmallows are missing. I believe they replace it with peanut and rice chocolate without mentioning to us. BAD service for such high class ice cream shop.

Creamy & smooth chocolate fondue?

Cyn started with Vanilla ice cream.

First dipped.

SHIT happened after third or forth dipped. Both of our side of chocolate become clotted. It really taste suck when chocolate clotted. We had to finish all the item without dipping in the chocolate.

This is the original fondue set, RM64.00. It is cheaper and better compare to the special valentine couple's fondue. We feel cheated with lousy fondue served by the Haagen-Dazs.

We had a lousy and expensive fondue from Haagen_Dazs. We used to had fondue without facing clotting chocolate problem. We are not sure whether they change the chocolate or only happened on couple's fondue. We will never try it again cause it is crazy to pay so much for lousy fondue.

Eastin Hotel Penang Vivacious Vietnam Buffet

Crave for Vietnamese food? Vietnamese food is so rare in Penang nowadays. Eastin Hotel Penang was pleased to introduce the flavorful and delicious Vietnam cuisine. At Eastin, they offered an incredible array of Vietnamese culinary specialties featuring the famous spring rolls, rice cakes, beef noodle soup, Bun Mang Vit (bamboo shoot and duck noodle soup) and many other delightful dishes from the Mekong Delta. Without further ado let me bring you through what i had during the buffet :)

Vivacious Vietnam

At the Vietnam buffet they served 2 type of soup. They were Chicken pineapple soup & Crab meat soup with asparagus. Crab meat soup was a thick and creamy type of soup like shake fin soup. Vegetarian corner served long bean sambal, aloo gobi, spring roll and Vietnamese fried rice.

Salad bar serving Tomato, Carrot, cucumber, Corn Kernel Onion Ring, Lettuce, Thousand Dressing, French Dressing, Italian Dressing, Vinaigrette Dressing with Condiments . They also had sayur campur goreng, rendang ayam and nasi tomato.

For cold corner they served meat, crab and grapefruit salad, String bean salad, Grilled eggplant salad with Vietnam dressing, Bamboo shoot salad, Grilled Paprika Chicken Salad, Fresh crystal spring rolls with beef Mixed celery and sea bass fillet salad, Western Cold Platter (2 types). Love the smoke duck very much, is a MUST TAKE dish.

Stuffed crab on the hard side for me, Sauteed cauliflower with prawn, sliced beef with lemongrass and fried shrimp with coconut sauce, i loved this dish but other complain that they dislike the smell.

Stewed seabass in claypot, stir fired chicken with cashew nut, stir fried bitter gourd with salted egg and stir fried vermicelli with assortment meat. It was kind of weird for the salted egg in bitter gourd cause it was the 1st time i tried it but it taste good.

Butter vege, roast potato, grilled lamb chopped and tapas. The lamb was not to my liking. It still have the lamb smell which i dislike and hard. Other taste good.

Shrimp on sugar cane. The meat mixture taste good and full of flavor but on the salty side. It went so well with the fish sauce but some complain that the sauce taste weird :)

One of the best dish i had for the buffet. Made upon ordered, egg pancake with prawn. The prawn was tender and juicy. crunchiness from the lettuce and spring onion. Sauce that came along taste super good and went well with the egg wrap. Yum yum!!!

Thai beef keoy teow soup.

Don't forget to have the sweet ending with all the delicious cakes. They were baked cheese cake, raspberry mouse cake, chocolate cake and fruit flan cake.

Honey dew pudding, Nyonya kuih, sticky rice cake and glutinous rice ball in ginger syrup. Sticky rice cake taste so "different" and not my cup of tea. As for the rice ball always my favorite dessert of all time. Green was kaya and red was read bean. I love the red one better :)

Yummy dessert that serve at the buffet :)

Coconut turnovers, green bean soup, fruit and assorted french pastries. The coconut turnovers taste like pengat because it contained coconut and bunana. These was one of my favorite dessert in the buffet as well.

All food start with the first dish. Here you go my first plate of buffet :)
