Official launching Tropical Spice Garden’s (TSG) new Cooking School

6-May-2011, Foodtok is honoured to be one of the invited guest to witness this exciting moment. Before the official opening ceremony we were given a special private tour at the TSG to get a better understanding of TSG’s role.

During the opening ceremony, Kat Chua (TSG MD), YB Danny Law (Penang state EXCO for Tourism Development & Culture) and Chef Wan were invited to give speech. YB did mention that Penang food is one of the main reason for Penang to be the 8th Island must go before you die. (Souce:http://travel.yahoo.com/p-interests-37926474). So with the new TSG Cooking School opening, it will definitely boost up the tourism industry. Chef Wan loves the concept of learning to cook real Penang food in such a wonderful environment.

Warm and cosy Cooking School fully equipped for classes
The new school can accommodate up to 10 students and all abilities are welcome. We have put together a fantastic class schedule up until July 2011 so sign up today! Click here to see our schedule.

Each student has their very own work station to work and cook at complete with all the utensils and equipment to whip some a vast array of authentic Malaysian cuisine and more.
On board with us are our resident chefs Pearly Kee, Nyonya and Indian specialist, Azizah Othman – Malay cooking and finally Lily Tan our resident Chinese and hawker cook. They can’t wait to share all their cooking secrets with you!
Opening ceremony by cutting off ribbon from the knife on a bangkua by Chef Wan.

After the ribbon cutting, our humor and funny chef make the first dish for the official opening, Nasi Ulam. He didn’t know that he will be preparing the Nasi Ulam but the moment he sees the ingredients he started to explain on how to make the Nasi Ulam. That is why he is the celebrity chef.

Epic moment, Chef Wan is feeding YB the Nasi Ulam he just made.

Both of the Guest of honour sign their name on the official opening board.

After that both are given a glass of all the herb they can get in TSG. Chef Wan promise to put the bottle of spice in his new program. Let spot the glass of spice from TSG in Chef Wan further program.

Very cute and typical signature by Chef Wan. After the signing ceremony all the press are invited to enjoy their lunch prepared by the resident chefs.

During lunch time a lot of guests get Chef Wan to sign for them or even take photos together.

Chef Wan was requested to post with two spatula. He is such a comedy and a good model :) He started dancing when the music was playing. He danced for just a while because of his backache.

The whole event was carefully planned, although there was some delay at the start but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves very much. Thank you TSG for the invitation. Besides that i had the opportunity to get myself some great pictures with the resident Chef Pearly Kee and celebrity Chef Wan.
